INTERREG Volunteer Youth (IVY) extends to EFTA and IPA countries

Join the “Interreg Volunteer Youth” (IVY) Programme!

The initiative “Interreg Volunteer Youth” (IVY) continues successfully with about 300 young Europeans who have been volunteering for Interreg Programmes and Projects so far.

DG Regio and AEBR extended the geographical scope of IVY, as well as expanded the possibilities for volunteers: from now on, also CBC Programmes and Projects from EFTA and IPA partner countries can host volunteers, namely Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and Turkey. Similarly, also young people from these countries can volunteer for Interreg. Territorial cooperation is enhancing cohesion and development opportunities also outside of the EU, and such efforts deserve more visibility.

Additionally, IVY volunteers are now given the chance to organise local events addressing citizens to raise awareness of Cohesion Policy, so-called “Citizens Engagement Activities”. The aim of such events is to promote European Territorial Cooperation and to tell citizens what, thanks to Interreg, has been implemented in the region to enhance local development. Volunteers have already started seizing this opportunity and the first events entirely planned by them will take place in June. Check all of them here.

IVY is part of the European Solidarity Corps, which promotes opportunities for youth to get work opportunities on a voluntary basis. The extension of the programme means the youth from the Balkans will be able to join the programme and also have more possibilities for their future!
